The prints reflect the earliest beginnings from the basic spirit of ukiyo-e through to the modernists of the 1950's. An incredible representation of Japanese times and life: the warriors; courtesan; lovers; natural life of birds, flowers, trees; landscapes; bridges; shrines; poets. Bound in tan silk, brown blind stamped on paper women's portrait the length of the front board, gilt lettering to spine. DJ, U.S. price intact, Euro price clipped, silver with color illustration of Geisha. Heavy cardboard brown slipcase, half printed illustration brown paper. Small round impression to front slipcase and rear. Solid. Original book mark from publisher in book. Two small scratches on rear of DW, tiny nic to lower edge. Clean, no writing, tears to DJ. Color prints beautifully vivid. Second Print. 4to, 287 pages.No effort was spared in the faithfulness of the print reproductions. This book was produced in Japan, a worthy example of the high standards of modern Japanese bookmaking, drawing upon the same traditions of painstaking craftsmanship that produced the Japanese print.
