An English mystery during Victorian times. Collins' uses pictorial suggestion, such as the opening scene of a hot silent evening on Hampstead Heath, its atmosphere charged with the mystery of the neighboring city which looms through the gathering, big with secrets of millions of lives. Beautifully illustrated in color and black and white by Leonard Rosoman. Grey decorated boards, grey cloth spine, white decorations and title panel, gilt lettering. Very clean, solidly bound.
