Philadelphia, 1856) was the first American to create picture books in the tradition of English illustrators (Crane, Greenaway and Caldecott). His family moved to Manhattan in 1860; early 1870s, Denslow studied art at Cooper Union Institute and the National Academy of Design. W.W. Denslow, the biography by Douglas G. Greene and Michael Patrick Hearn, states: the original to be bound in paper covered boards, with a Denslow illustration in color extending over the front back and spine. 1902, published by G.W.
