An easy to read book for children about country farm life, animals, nature and seasonal changes in 19th century England. Illustrations: The Milk Maid; Cows in Water; Shepherd Boy, and Sheep; Ducks Swimming and Diving; Feeding Poultry; Cottage and Bee-Hives; Grey Horse Drinking; Cat in the Dairy; The Young Angler; Farmer's Waggon; The Old Gardener; The Patient Ass; Nutting, and Black-Berrying; Hogs in the Straw Yard; Gathering Grapes; Turkeys on the Common. Beautifully bound in brown and gild decorative cloth with floral and bird illustration, inset bright color lithography of young girl and doll. Bright gilt stamped title to front board and spine. Printed on heavy weight paper, each plate covered with blank page. In protective polyester archival film. N.D. circa 1860, very slight toning of text, text large, very readable. Front hinge cracked at title page, solidly bound and clean. Mild rubbing of upper edge and corners.
