The Wood Fire in No. 3 New York, Charles Scribner's Sons, 1905, First Edition ed, Hard Cover, illus: Alonozo Kimball, Condition: Very Good, Francis Hopkins Smith, American Novelist (1838-1915). Artist Sandy MacWhirter who lives in No. 3., longs for a cozy fireplace like the one from his child hood; his friend Lonnegan who built the big Opera House, solves the problem. Soon a half a dozen cronies where gathered around the fire telling their tall tales. Illustrated with 8 color plates, plus frontispiece by Alonzo Kimbal. Published, October, 1905, First Edition, TEG. 2 pp of ads, first ad "At Close Range" indicating First Print, BAL 18239. Light green cloth, illustrated with gilt partial fireplace, white lettering. Gilt lettering and decoration to spine. Cloth and lettering faded. Spine rubbed and darkened, spotty rubbing along rear hinge gutter.Slight crack to front hinge. Previous owners name to e.p.
